A passion for helping

A passion for supporting people has brought Jenny Birthisel and Jeff Edmondson to Mercy Connect.
As managers of Support Services, their role will be to ensure Mercy Connect participants attain the outcomes they choose and staff get the most from their working life.
They bring a broad range of skills and experience to their new roles; Jenny has spent most of her working life in leadership roles within community services, while facility and environmental management has been a large part of Jeff’s career.
The culture within Mercy Connect was a major draw card for each of them.jeff-and-jenny
“I really liked the vision and values of Mercy Connect, it was something that I felt very connected with,’’ Jenny said.
“For me personally, it’s always been about improving the quality of life for people with disabilities.
“And when we are working as a team, we get the best outcomes for the people we support.”
“Mercy Connect is a very friendly and welcoming community of dedicated staff.
“And I love how versatile people are.”
Jeff said his first impression of Mercy Connect inspired him to take on the role.
“There is an amazing vibe at Mercy Connect, the team is really cohesive, welcoming and warm, everyone is engaging and happy to help,’’ he said.
“Right from the first interview I felt that I wanted to be part of this team.”
Ultimately, their passion for helping people with a disability is the driving force in their roles with Mercy Connect.
They will manage people and facilities to ensure the best possible outcomes for participants as Mercy Connect navigates through the early stages of the implementation of the NDIS.
“We will be supporting team leaders and disability support staff as well as managing a portfolio of properties,’’ Jeff said.
“It’s a really exciting time as we move into the NDIS as we will also be mentoring and coaching staff.’’
Jenny said that “As an organization, it’s about continually improving the quality of service and ensuring we maintain a skilled workforce so we are able to provide participants with opportunities and choice in all areas of their lives.”
