Michael O’Callaghan

Helping people is the driving force behind Michael O’Callaghan’s service on the board of Mercy Connect.

“When I hear of the predicament some people are in and what we have done to improve their lives that is the reward,’’ Mr O’Callaghan said.

“Albury Wodonga has been kind to me so when I was invited to join the board I was pleased to help in some way and I’ve got the skills to help.

“We are going strong and now we have a more structured management team in place.’’

Mr O’Callaghan’s extensive business management skills including profit improvement, taxation planning, wealth creation and conflict resolution make him a valuable member of the board.

Experiences gained through employment with a number of national accounting firms and running a private practice for more than 18 years have developed his skills to guide Mercy Connect into the NDIS.

But it is the provision of services for people that most rewards his work with the board.

“I think Mercy Connect will play a positive role as we move towards the NDIS, the organisation has a background of looking after people who might otherwise fall through the cracks,’’ he said.

“We perform our activities with an extra level of care for people with disabilities.

“It is important people are treated with dignity and respect and that is what we show them in our everyday service.’’
