Learning Centre Update

Tuesday 1 June 2021

Good afternoon all,

The Albury-Wodonga area is experiencing an accommodation crisis impacting many vulnerable people in our region; particularly those people living with disability. With this in mind, together with the new and exciting development underway at Kambora Court (that includes a brand new social hub), the decision has been made to close the Learning Centre as an operating Day Program.

Existing Learning Centre participants, programs and staff will continue their community and recreation programs and / or join in with the St John’s Campus timetable during the construction of the Kambora Social Hub.

By joining the St John’s and Learning Centre programs together, we will be able to offer a broader range of programs and prevent the duplication of activities. It will further enable our teams to work, support and create together.

There will be transport arrangements made for those participants currently attending the Learning Centre to our St John’s Campus.

The current Learning Centre building will soon undergo some renovation work to create two units for people living with disability.

Carol Fee and her team will be working with anyone affected by the changes over the coming weeks (including discussions with participants and families), with the expected transition to occur sometime in August 2021.

We look forward to welcoming new participants, providing better choices and creating new opportunities from this change.

Together we grow.
