Our Support Coordination services aim to help people with a disability to lead a connected and meaningful life. We do this by helping people to use appropriate ways to communicate, make choices and participate in their community.

The Federal Government defines Support Coordination as “a capacity building support to implement all supports in a participants plan, including formal, mainstream, community and funded supports.”

This service is also available as a consultancy, assessment and intervention service to other disability providers.

What is NDIS Support Coordination?

NDIS Support Coordination means that help is available to help you navigate the NDIS, so that you can get as much value from the NDIS as possible. The NDIA will make a decision if you need Support Coordination. They will also decide on what level you might need. The NDIA are likely to approve Support Coordination if:

  • there are stages in your life where you lack confidence and need support to connect with your community
  • there are times that make it difficult for you to participate in a meeting and making sense of information
  • you need assistance to make decisions. Particularly during a crisis situation

What do Support Coordinators do?

NDIS Support Coordinators work with NDIS participants to plan their individual development goals and how they want to achieve them. NDIS Support Coordinators do things such as:

  • access the funding and services available to you, including mainstream, community, informal and provider options
  • help you choose your preferred support options or providers
  • negotiate your preferred services and prices, as well as develop service agreements and create service bookings with preferred providers
  • arrange any assessments required to determine the funding available to you
  • help decide on a budget for each support type
  • help you to understand their personal responsibility under service agreements, resolve problems or issues that arise and change or end service agreements
  • help you get ready for a plan review

  • work with you to find mainstream services, such as education, health and employment
  • ensure that you are effectively linked to services that you want and/or need
  • work with you to develop skills and resilience

Support Connection

Temporary assistance to help you source providers that meet your needs and to increase capacity to maintain relationships with these providers and participate independently in any NDIS process.

Coordination of Supports

Assistance throughout your plan, to provide connection and coordination of your supports from a range of sources in a more complex environment.

Specialised Support Coordination 

Specialised Support Coordination is for people who need support from people with special skills. Specialist supports are for more complex situations.
