ICT Alert: Increase in Spam Emails

Friday 17 April 2020

Good morning all,

We have been receiving an increased number of spam and phishing emails this week. Our Mail Filtering block many emails from getting to your inbox, however it will never be able to block all spam and phishing emails.

It is important that you remain aware and vigilant. Before you open an email take note of who it is from and the subject line of the email. Only open emails that you trust.

A recent email was received asking to confirm your password. If you receive an email like this DO NOT click on the ‘confirm password’ link.

Some important things to remember:

  1. You can notify myself or NetIntellect that you are receiving spam, however please only send a screenshot of the email rather than forwarding the email.
  2. If you have any suspicion about any emails that you receive DO NOT open the email.
  3. Permanently delete the email by highlighting the message pressing Ctrl + Delete.
  4. If you have opened the email and realise it is spam DO NOT click on any links within the email and DO NOT reply to the email.
  5. Please DO NOT forward the email to others.
  6. At the bottom of each email you will see a number options. Click on the link ‘Report this message as spam’. This assists in the MailGuard filtering to recognise these emails as spam and prevent further email activity from these addresses.
  7. If you are accessing your emails from home please ensure that your computer is protected with an up-to-date anti-virus.

If you have any questions, please contact myself via email or P: 02 6061 0436.

Together we grow.
