Appropriate use of Mercy Connect ICT Assets and Internet

Tuesday 28 April 2020

This is a reminder for staff to be aware of their obligations of appropriate usage of Mercy Connect’s ICT assets and network access including access to the Internet under the Information Technology Guideline FNG 001 and the Code of Conduct Policy HR 001.Which can be found in Participant Admin \ Policies drive.

The appropriate use of electronic communication systems (including email, internet and social media) and communication devices (including telephones, facsimiles, mobile phones, computers and smart phones / iPads / tablets) by Mercy Connect workers in their day-to-day use of information technology is outlined in the above mentioned policy. Mercy Connect’s ICT assets are to be primarily used for conducting business for Mercy Connect and Mercy Connect Participants with limited personal use.

It has come to our attention that recently there has been inappropriate use of Mercy Connect devices including the browsing of sexually explicit content. This type of use is unacceptable and is a serious breach of both the Information Technology Guidelines and the Code of Conduct.

Mercy Connect’s IT have been actively monitoring usage systems and identifying any inappropriate browsing activity. Staff found to be accessing any sites deemed to be inappropriate, or illegal, whilst using Mercy Connect’s ICT assets, or within the Mercy Connect network, will be addressed through disciplinary processes.

Together we grow.
