Thursday 17 December 2020
Good afternoon all,
Please find the following information providing staff with an update on the COVID-19 pandemic.
Easing of Pandemic Restrictions
I am pleased to announce a further update relating to the pandemic restrictions and the impact this will have on Mercy Connect staff, facilities and homes. This decision has been based on the preventative plans and risk assessment which Mercy Connect has recently updated.
Effective immediately (Thursday 17 December):
In line with the NSW Government advice, it will not be compulsory for Mercy Connect staff to wear facemasks while with participants in New South Wales.
However, staff will be required to wear masks with participants when assessing or providing care to any participant with acute respiratory symptoms.
General principles continue to apply through all Mercy Connect locations which include:
- Physical (Social) Distancing.
- Hand hygiene.
- Enhanced cleaning of high tough surfaces and common furniture.
- Staff to stay at home if they are unwell or sick.
- Entry screening for visitors and staff through our QR system.
New Case Alert
New cases of apparent community transmission of COVID-19 have been identified in the Northern Beaches area of Sydney. Staff that have travelled / travelling to this hot spot are not to return to work until a negative COVID test is returned.
Please be aware, that any relaxed COVID-19 restrictions may be reintroduced, subject to government announcement or local outbreaks.
Thank you everyone for your ongoing vigilance and support as we continue to navigate through this pandemic.
Together we grow.
Trent Dean
