Be the difference in someone’s day
Volunteering at Mercy Connect is more than giving your time
Sharing your skills, building lasting connections
Volunteering at Mercy Connect is about who you are, not what you know about disability. You bring your strengths, your passions, and your personality, and we match you to participants who’ll genuinely benefit from spending time with you.
Our volunteer program has a flexible, participant-centred approach. There’s no script. You show up, you connect, and you let the relationship develop naturally, with full guidance from our team along the way.
Catch up for coffee
Simply spending time with a participant — chatting, listening, being present.
Go for a walk
Community outings, local walks, parks, or just getting out of the house together.
Share a hobby or skill
Cooking, gardening, music, art, technology — whatever you love, share it.
Prepare and deliver meals
Help cook nutritious meals through our Mercy Meals and Meals on Wheels programs.
Help clean up the community
Volunteer alongside the Ecco Crew to clean up green spaces in Albury-Wodonga.
Attend events and activities
Help participants attend and enjoy community events, celebrations, and activities.
Teach or tutor something
Share a skill or subject you know well — from reading to technology to cooking.
Be a consistent companion
Some participants just need a reliable, friendly face. That alone changes lives.
Benefits
What you get out of it
Volunteering is reciprocal. Here’s what Mercy Connect provides every volunteer, because your experience matters too.
What happens after you put your hand up
We’ve made the process simple and welcoming. Here’s what to expect from your expression of interest through to your first shift.
Submit your expression of interest

Friendly phone chat
Our volunteer coordinator will call you within 5 business days. It’s an informal conversation, no pressure, just getting to know you.
Role matching
We match you to the role and program that best suits your skills, schedule, and personality. We’ll walk you through what to expect.
Background checks
All volunteers complete a Police Check and Working With Children Check. We guide you through the process, it’s straightforward.
Induction and training
Before you start, you’ll receive full training on Mercy Connect’s approach, participant communication, and what’s expected of volunteers.
Your first shift
You’ll be introduced to your participants and team. A staff member is always nearby on your first few sessions until you feel fully settled.
