VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Be the difference in someone’s day

Join our community of volunteers in regional NSW and Victoria. Share your skills, your time, and your presence. Make a real difference in the lives of people with disability.

Volunteering at Mercy Connect is more than giving your time

It’s about building real relationships with people who appreciate the company, the connection, and the shared experience. Our volunteers are a vital part of what makes Mercy Connect feel like a community, not just a service provider.
You bring your skills, your interests, and your personality. Our participants bring their stories, their gratitude, and their genuine desire to connect with people from all walks of life.
What our volunteers say
I started volunteering to fill some time after retiring. Two years later, these friendships are some of the most meaningful I have. I get far more than I give.
Margaret, 68
Social Companion volunteer · Albury-Wodonga · 2 years
I’m a chef by trade. Sharing that with participants in the Mercy Meals kitchen — watching their confidence grow — it’s honestly the highlight of my week.
David, 42
Mercy Meals volunteer · Albury-Wodonga · 1 year
I was nervous at first. I had no disability experience. But the team made it so easy, and the welcome I got from the participants on my first day — I was hooked.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Sharing your skills, building lasting connections

Volunteering at Mercy Connect is about who you are, not what you know about disability. You bring your strengths, your passions, and your personality, and we match you to participants who’ll genuinely benefit from spending time with you.

Our volunteer program has a flexible, participant-centred approach. There’s no script. You show up, you connect, and you let the relationship develop naturally, with full guidance from our team along the way.

Catch up for coffee

Simply spending time with a participant — chatting, listening, being present.

Go for a walk

Community outings, local walks, parks, or just getting out of the house together.

Share a hobby or skill

Cooking, gardening, music, art, technology — whatever you love, share it.

Prepare and deliver meals

Help cook nutritious meals through our Mercy Meals and Meals on Wheels programs.

Help clean up the community

Volunteer alongside the Ecco Crew to clean up green spaces in Albury-Wodonga.

Attend events and activities

Help participants attend and enjoy community events, celebrations, and activities.

Teach or tutor something

Share a skill or subject you know well — from reading to technology to cooking.

Be a consistent companion

Some participants just need a reliable, friendly face. That alone changes lives.
