📸 Here's a snapshot of Bradley making a difference in our community by delivering Meals on Wheels! 🍲🚗 The Meals on Wheels program is a small group effort aimed at providing food and companionship to elderly and vulnerable people in our community. With the support of staff, volunteers like Bradley collect the meals, navigate to the recipient's address, and deliver the food with a smile. This amazing program not only helps those in need, but also develops self-confidence and self-esteem through service to the community. After a job well done, volunteers enjoy a refreshing drink at a local café and have their lunch in the park. 🌳🥪 Want to get involved and make a difference like Bradley? Yesterday, with the Henty Respite Trust we officially opened Avondale Place, a new respite facility located in Henty NSW. ![]()
Avondale Place is a purpose-built facility (constructed by Premier Building & Construction) that offers a range of services for people with disability. The site comprises of a four-bedroom respite care centre that provides short-term accommodation for up to three residents at a time, and four, two-bedroom independent living units for longer-term residents. ![]()
The respite centre will be staffed by trained Disability Support Workers, employed by Mercy Connect, who will provide round-the-clock support and assistance to residents. Importantly, nine staff have already been employed from within Henty area, creating more regional jobs.![]()
The facility is equipped with the latest technology and equipment to ensure the safety and comfort of residents, and all buildings have been designed to meet accessibility and sustainability standards.![]()
With generous donations (including from Bendigo Bank - Henty Branch) sponsorships and support, the Henty Respite Trust designed and constructed Avondale Place to deliver the vision of local residents (and generous donors) Alison and Peter Campbell. ![]()
We are very proud to have been appointed to provide operational oversight of the site, providing support services and management of the facilities.
Avondale Place is open to everyone across the region, benefiting people across the Greater Hume and Lockhart Shires and its surrounding areas by providing much-needed respite care services closer to home, reducing the need to travel long distances to access such support.![]()
With over 100 attendees at yesterday's ceremony, it was great to see so many happy and smiling faces throughout the crowd.![]()
