Today, we acknowledge the 17th anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations. This is a significant milestone to the healing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who suffered as a result of past government policies of forced child removal and assimilation.![]()

Despite this apology, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are still grossly over-represented at every stage of the child protection system.![]()

At Mercy Connect, we recognise the pain and injustice experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, stand in solidarity with our First Nations communities, and firmly back The Healing Foundation's call for a National Healing Package to enable survivors to live out the rest of their lives with dignity.
