Staff Announcement – Operations Team

Monday 22 March 2021

Good afternoon,

Please find the latest announcement on two new recruitments in the Operations Team.

Operations Manager Role – Accommodation
I am pleased to announce that after a rigorous recruitment process Gareth Evans has been the successful applicant in the role of Operations Manager – Accommodation. Gareth comes to Mercy Connect with many years’ experience across the disability sector where he has worked in respite, support, accommodation management and behaviour support. Gareth has completed a Diploma in Community Services and a Masters of Business Administration among other things. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Gareth to the Operations Team and look forward to the skills and knowledge he brings to the team.

Participant Welfare Officer
Lee O’Connor will be commencing in the newly created role of Participant Welfare Officer (PWO). The PWO will be responsible for supporting Team Leaders, Assistant Team Leaders and support staff by providing advice and feedback about participants health, wellbeing and social welfare. The role will be seeking out opportunities to improve social connections and opportunities to create meaningful engagement for Mercy Connect participants. The PWO will support Mercy Connect leadership by monitoring the supports being provided to ensure goals and needs are being met. This will include engaging regularly with individual participants and reviewing their goals, health and wellbeing needs. The role will sit within the operations team and work closely with members of the Clinical services team.

Lee has been appointed to the role as part of the operations re-structure and brings over 20 years’ experience and knowledge to the role as well as her good understanding and knowledge of all participants.  Lee will commence on 19 April 2021, and will eventually be located within the new Kambora Social Hub once it is built.

Together we grow.
